ICWE-SD Congo - Integration of Climate, Water, Food and Energy Systems for Sustainable Development and Health Resilience in the Congo Basin

The overarching goal of the German sub-project is to provide the climatological scientific basis required to assess and strengthen the resilience of the Water-Energy-Food-Health (WEF-H) Nexus in the Congo Basin. The planned work will generate high-resolution climate projections and harmonised, bias-corrected climate datasets. Additionally, hydrologically relevant datasets will be provided for use by all consortium partners in hydrological modelling, WEF-H risk analysis, scenario development, and the assessment of future water and energy availability — including hydropower potential at the Inga site. The results will support decision-making processes, the development of adaptation strategies, and the formulation of scientifically grounded policy recommendations across the consortium.
