"Labour, Unions, and the Future of Work": Prof. Dr. Marit Rosol Co-Organizer of the international and interdisciplinary Annual Conference of the Bavarian America Academy 2025

07/15/2025

The annual conference of the BAA was held in Munich from July 10 to 12, 2025.

BAA-Session: "Feminist Conceptions of Labor and the Future of Work"

The Bavarian America Academy (BAA) is an inter-university and interdisciplinary network of scholars from across Bavaria. Its mission is to foster research related to North America and to promote exchange between academia, culture, society, business, politics and the economy.

As part of the conference, Prof. Dr. Marit Rosol organized and chaired the session entitled “Feminist Conceptions of Labor and the Future of Work.” In this session, economic geographers from Canada, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland presented current feminist perspectives on work environments and future developments in the world of labor (see screenshot above).

The conference keynotes by Prof. Dr. Mary Anne Trasciatti (Hofstra University, USA), Prof. Dr. Colin Crouch (Warwick University, UK), and Prof. Dr. Sherry Lee Linkon (Georgetown University, USA) are available via the YouTube channel of Amerikahaus Munich. Unfortunately, the keynote “Truth-Telling, Diverse Labors, and Negotiating Work Futures,” also organized by Prof. Dr. Rosol and to be delivered by Prof. Dr. Katherine Gibson (Western Sydney University, Australia)—one of the world’s most renowned and respected economic geographers—had to be canceled due to illness.
