Fifth CAWa Summer School (2018)

Program

The Summer School introduced innovative methods and tools for the analysis and monitoring of water and land resources in Central Asia. These methods are of great value in integrated water and land resource management.

The 2-week summer school combined theoretical lectures and practical exercises with discussion sessions on the implementation of new methods and instruments for managing water and land resources in Central Asia. The program included an in-depth introduction to geographic information systems (GIS), an overview of remote sensing applications for water and land resource monitoring, an introduction to climatological data analysis, and an introduction to glaciology.

Participiants

The participants of the Summer School were composed of 23 dedicated students as well as young professionals and researchers with interest in geoscientific tools for Integrated Water and Land Resources Management and its practical implementation, from the Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Afghanistan. The participants were selected on the basis of their application documents (motivation letter, curriculum vitae, prior knowledge).
