The working group deals with various fields of human geography, such as urban geography, rural geography, and political geography. Particular emphasis is placed on the transformation of infrastructure and the political and planning options for steering spatial development. Conceptual perspectives from critical geography provide important guidance in this regard, as do methodological approaches from participatory social research. Current empirical topics include the spatial effects of sustainability transformations, dealing with regional disparities, and sustainable development in the Alpine region.
