Field practical course on the physical geography and soil science of the university forest

Students learn about the physical geography and soil science of the university forest during a field internship, and Bavarian radio makes a TV report about the special features of the university forest.

The Bayrische Rundfunk (link) shows a TV report about the special features of the Uniwald. The recordings were made during a field internship by Prof. Terhorst, Dr. Meyer-Heintze and S. Schmieg in July and also show a measure of the Maintal project for water retention in the university forest (MainPro/EFRE funding).

During the three-day field internship, a group of students was out and about in the university forest to get to know the soils of the forest. They also visited a MainPro project site. The recently constructed retention basins protect the village of Wagenhausen below from flash floods and help to keep the water in the forest. The students were able to examine the surrounding soils here.
