The annual conference of the BAA was held in Munich from July 10 to 12, 2025.

Starting April 1st, Prof. Dr. Marit Rosol, Chair in Economic Geography, is new editor of the leading global journal in human geography 'Progress in Human Geography'.

Together with Prof. Dr. Cordula Neiberger (RWTH Aachen) and Dr. Thomas Wieland (Coop), Dr. Sina Hardaker co-edited the German-language book Onlinehandel und Raum. Eine geographische Perspektive auf den Einzelhandel [Online Retail and Space: A Geographical Perspective on Retail].

We warmly welcome Ms. Rebekka Kanesu, who has been supporting the team of the Chair of Economic Geography in research and teaching since April 1, 2025.

We warmly welcome Anton Parisi as new external Doctoral Candidate at the Chair in Economic Geography.

During April and May we welcome Dr. Krüger from Lund University in Sweden as visiting scholar.

In a new episode of SpacEconomics, Björn 'Bjarne' Braunschweig discusses global digital platforms, such as eBay, Amazon, and others, with Dr. Alica Repenning from the University of Greifswald and Dr. Sina Hardaker from the University of Würzburg, focusing on their significance for local retail.

On November 13 and 14, the Handelskongress [Trade Congress] 2024 will take place in Berlin, featuring high-profile keynotes, including speakers from politics. Dr. Sina Hardaker will moderate the strategy forum on digital marketplaces.

On November 5, 2024, at 2:30 PM, Dr. Sina Hardaker will give a lecture titled "Klick, Kauf, Klimakrise? Nachhaltigkeit im Zeitalter von Amazon, Shein und Temu" ["Click, Buy, Climate Crisis? Sustainability in the Age of Amazon, Shein, and Temu"] as part of the Afternoon of Sustainability.

On July 8, 2024, at 8 PM, Prof. Dr. Marit Rosol will give a lecture titled "Landwirtschaft und Ernährung im Spannungsfeld von Umwelt, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft" ["Agriculture and Nutrition in the Tension Field of Environment, Economy, and Society"] as part of the 2024 lecture series of the Geographic Society Würzburg e.V. (GGW).

We warmly welcome Ms. Phyllis Bußler, who has been supporting the team of the Chair of Economic Geography in research and teaching since July 1, 2024.

The working group was established in April 2022 with the overarching goal of further establishing the field of agricultural and food systems in the German-speaking region. To this end, it provides a network for and by researchers within geography and related disciplines, students, and practitioners interested in the diverse aspects of agricultural and food systems at various spatial scales.

On April 22, 2024, Dr. Tatiana Lopez-Julies delivered a lecture titled "Saure Trauben - Lokale Gewerkschaftskämpfe und transnationale Solidarität in der südafrikanischen Weinindustrie" ["Sour Grapes - Local Union Struggles and Transnational Solidarity in the South African Wine Industry"] as part of the 2024 lecture series of the Geographic Society Würzburg e.V. (GGW).
