The working group was established in April 2022 with the overarching goal of further establishing the field of agricultural and food systems in the German-speaking region. To this end, it provides a network for and by researchers within geography and related disciplines, students, and practitioners interested in the diverse aspects of agricultural and food systems at various spatial scales.

As part of the project study "eBay Deine Stadt" (eBay Your City), conducted under the direction of Dr. Sina Hardaker (Chair of Economic Geography) and Dr. Alexandra Appel (IKEM Berlin), the marketplaces eBay Deine Stadt, initiated by eBay in Germany and declared as local, were investigated. Urban actors were interviewed and participating retailers were surveyed.
