We are happy to have welcomed Dr. Ibrahim Sani from the Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey, Niger.
Dr. Sani completed his doctorate in 2015 at our Institute of Geography and Geology, at the Chair of Physical Geography (now Geomorphology), and has since been working as a researcher and lecturer at the Université Abdou Moumouni. His academic focus lies in geomorphology and applied hydrology, with particular emphasis on the reconstruction of past climates and landscapes, recent geomorphological processes, and landscape and ecological change in arid regions — especially in the Sahel and Saharan zones of Niger.
We are especially pleased that the more than thirty-year friendship between the University of Niamey and our institute continues to be cultivated and carried forward by Dr. Sani Ibrahim. Shared research topics such as desertification and land degradation in the Sahel, anthropogenic landscape change, and aeolian and fluvial geomorphology remain key points of connection for future collaboration.
His visit concluded with a lecture at our Geography Colloquium, in which Dr. Sani Ibrahim presented to a large and engaged audience on the degradation and regeneration of soils in the Sahel zone.
Thank you, Sani — and À la prochaine!
