The 2026 Wilhelm Lauer Prize for Clara Bormann

07/14/2026

Clara Borman has been awarded the 2026 Wilhelm Lauer Prize by the Wilhelm Lauer Foundation for her outstanding Master’s thesis.

Clara Bormann, presently a PhD student at the Chair of Geomorphology at JMU Würzburg working on the AReS project, was awarded the 2026 Wilhelm Lauer Prize by the Wilhelm Lauer Foundation on 10 July 2026. The award recognised her outstanding Master’s thesis, completed at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, which investigated a fossilised large-scale landslide in the Ahr catchment area. The findings will help to better assess the risks of such mass movements being reactivated in the future and thus improve disaster preparedness in the context of climate change.
