We are happy to have welcomed Dr. Ibrahim Sani from the Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey, Niger.

The focus on the Allgäu region has been a long-standing tradition in the Department of Geography Education at the University of Würzburg. Among the various collaborative projects is Dr Markus Pingold’s partnership with the Allgäu Mountain Farmers’ Museum in Diepolz, which, with around 70,000 visitors a year, is the most popular museum in Swabia. Every year, as part of a final-year dissertation, a special exhibition is created which is on display for a year in the museum’s outdoor area.

From nature trails to raised bogs and torrential rain: for a whole week, the municipality of Bad Hindelang was transformed into a real-world laboratory for geography students from Würzburg and sixth-form pupils from Kempten. Together with local experts, they analysed a wide variety of geographical phenomena.

Johannes Mast, a PhD student from Würzburg, has been awarded the Bernd Rendel Prize by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for his original and promising geoscientific research carried out prior to his PhD.
